Alpine Search and Rescue Mt Feathertop Training

It was a great thrill to be invited to join the amazing volunteers from the Alpine Search and Rescue team for an exercise on Mt Feathertop last month.

Many of these dedicated and highly skilled volunteers had been involved in the search for me when I was missing on Mt Feathertop in 2009.

A substantial dump of fresh snow on the Thursday and Friday created ideal training conditions as we practiced constructing snow shelters, steep snow shoe ascent/ descents, secure haulage techniques for injured patients and various search and rescue scenarios.

A great team of dedicated Victorians who love our alpine regions and train hard to make sure that others can enjoy them safely.
